Remembering Deane Cameron

On May 16, 2019, we lost a true champion of Canadian music. Deane Cameron’s remarkable career began at EMI Music Canada in 1972 and led him to become President in 1988, shaping the nation’s music landscape for decades.

In 2015, Deane took on the role of President & CEO of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, driving the most significant revitalization in Massey Hall’s history.

His legacy lives on in the Deane Cameron Recording Studio, located atop the Allied Music Centre beside Massey Hall—a vibrant space for music creation, education, and performance. This studio and the centre stand as enduring tributes to Deane’s passion, vision, and lasting impact on Canadian culture.
